GUY W. LEFLAR III, as a principal with Emergent Systems,
is engaged in the search for knowledge and new discoveries about the
changing nature of work and it's impact on the individual, the organization,
and the culture. Since 1986 he has done extensive consulting with a
number of diverse organizations, including many businesses in the Fortune
500. With a focus on Human Systems, Guy has helped his clients rethink
how they can build and maintain their biggest competitive advantage,
a dedicated and involved workforce.
Guy's work includes an integrated approach to the issues
of productivity, quality, and change, and frequently leads to collaboration
with a number of experts in areas such as Strategic Planning, and
Systems Dynamics. This collaboration most recently has led to the
development of a very successful and innovative process for empowering
employees that is now used in several major corporations. In addition
Guy's unique way of viewing people issues has produced a number of
new employee retention models for his clients, that reflect the realities
of today's workplace.
Prior to forming Emergent Systems Guy was a Sr. Vice
President with Drake Beam Morin, a leading human resource consulting
firm, where he helped build the Change Management practice area. Guy's
work experience also includes a number of years as a Human Resource
Executive for a major energy company where he worked full time to
understand change implementation issues.
Guy's interest in helping organizations better understand
their people management issues, by thinking of themselves as a community,
has been a constant for him since he graduated from Texas A & M University
with a BS in Finance. By following this interest it has enabled him
to engage in study and problem solving from varied perspectives. It
has brought him in contact with thought leaders such as Dr. Edwards
Deming and George Land, and encouraged the connecting of traditionally
separate fields of thought in social science and business.
Guy currently writes, speaks and conducts workshops
on the importance of seeing our businesses as a community. He also
consults with organizations in the area of leadership development,
career self-reliance, human resource systems design, and culture change.
Guy's experience helping organizations understand and
manage change encompasses the last 8 years and includes major projects
with numerous companies. In many of these projects Guy did project
planning , intervention design, and facilitation. Some key clients
in the change area include General Motors, Mobil, Ericsson, and Shell.
Guy's work in diversity comes from a grounding in community
building. His efforts have helped organizations of all sizes focus
on the power of diversity in the natural world and the ways it creates
conditions for sustainability. Through workshops and speeches he has
helped leaders and employees see diversity as a requirement for long
term success rather than just an appreciation of differences.
